Wy’east has recently introduced a number of small groups, or Chalice Circles. These groups are open to members and non-members of the congregation. They are scheduled by members of the groups who try to meet two or more times per month. Groups are run by volunteers, and anyone should have the opportunity to lead or host a circle. You can find out more about Chalice Circles in the Unitarian Universalist Community here.
Below is a list of the groups Wy’east is currently running:
Meditation:
This groups purpose is to practice guided meditation. Meets for 1 hour. The group meets alternate Wednesdays at 7 pm at a private residence. Contact Betty Hadaway.
Social Justice:
This group has been meeting to develop projects in which the whole congregation, including our children, can participate. We are interested in: food security, women's shelter, racism, immigrant rights, gay rights, marriage equality, environmental justice, volunteering to help people, and continuing the work that Wy'east already does. Some ideas have already been put forth, such as getting food and children's books to a community organization working with Hispanic families, and getting essentials that can't be bought with food stamps to newly arriving refugees. These proposals are currently being pursued, to see how we can put them into practice. Contact Mark A.
Seniors:
This groups purpose is establishing deeper relationships among its members and supporting the congregation through social events and discussions. Meets to discuss issues related aging and community and to enjoy events together. Contact Hank H.
