Wy'east Board Meeting
May 2, 2007
Waverly Heights Church
We (Debra Tomsen, Anders Liljeholm, Mark Alter, Barbara Smith-Thomas, and Joanne Foulkrod) checked in and lit a chalice. Not in that order.
We approved the previous meeting's minutes.
We voted to designate Linda MacPherson as our appointee to the Ministry Committee.
Minister's Report
Cecilia Kingman-Miller is making preparations to bid us farewell. Saying goodbye to particular people - children and adults - and planning events that will help us say goodbye in a healthy way. She's leaving the board email list as one of these. Anders gave Cecilia his key, so Cecilia can hand in her key ceremonially, and we can officially give Susan Maginn a key.
Budget
We have a minor deficit this month, right on schedule. Our annual budget is right in line. We expect people will catch up on their pledges in May. We are budgeting to end the year with $2000 unspent from savings.
Committees
Worship:
Planning for summer worships is going forward. Karl Arruda is the acting chair, since Sarah Schurr is leaving our congregation for seminary work in July. June 3 will be volunteer recognition Sunday, and recognize the new board. Some time in June will begin the Buy-A-Key fundraiser for our new digital piano. There is no Wy'east worship on June 24, since the GA worship is about the same time, and free and open to all.
Tidbits
Barbara will find someone to be acting secretary at the annual meeting, while Anders is in China. Anders is leaving the board email list, and the board.
Joanne is nearly done with our Welcoming Congregation papers. She'll send them in to National Office next week.
Mark Alter and people from Membership are working with Hannah Nelson on adjustments to the website.
We expect a big bump in attendance in August/September, and would like to be ready by July.
Next Meeting
We'll meet May 30 at Barbara's house. 6 pm potluck, 7 pm the new board takes over and elects new officers.
Leaving the board gives me no pause.
My snoring will sound just like saws.
It's been a good time,
Making minutes rhyme,
And getting to know our bylaws.
