Wy'east Board Meeting

October 8th, 2008

PRESENT: Rev, Susan Maginn, Karl Arruda, Mark Alter, Jill De Rosa, Elizabeth Suh, Barbara Smith-Thomas

Minutes: The minutes from the September board meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer's Report: A revised August report was distributed and reviewed.

The September budget was distributed and reviewed. We had a $432.78 deficit for the month, leaving us with a year to date surplus of $523.93. However, we expect to have a ytd deficit in October. We have received 34% of pledges, although only 25% of the fiscal year has elapsed. We are running low on donations and fundraising efforts. We are still overspending on the worship materials and supplies budget. Barbara also noted that the budget is basically on track.

Christine's Contract: The contract was actually signed on August 1st by Karl Arruda, Board Moderator.

Building Update: A letter went out on Monday announcing the congregational meeting and special vote to be held after services on October 19th.

The board raised many questions and concerns regarding the Masonic Temple. Elizabeth and Mark will speak with Jewelz on Friday and get further clarification regarding potential responsibilities as renters. Will try to arrange an open house on the 18th to allow members and friends to view this building..

Mark will also work on arranging an open house at the Hollywood Senior Center and Wee Works for the same purpose on October 19th.

The board all agreed to take part in calling members and friends of the congregation to relay information about the open houses. This information will also be announced this Sunday during the service.
