Wyeast Community Board Meeting Minutes

Board Meeting June 6, 2023, 7:00-8:30 PM on Zoom

Minutes by Diane Arnold, Current Board co-chair and Prior Board Secretary

Board Members: Lana Quackenbush (moderator), Barbara Dow(treasurer), Diane Arnold (secretary), Linda Burk (at-large), Ruth Jenkins (vice-moderator). All Board members were present.

New Board Members: Marcy Sullwold (at large), Kathleen Scanlan (co-moderator), Hank Hadaway (treasurer), Diane Arnold (co-moderator). Absent: Larry Burt (secretary).

Minister Leslie Becknell Marx is on vacation.

Other attendees: Ron Thurston (membership committee), Hank Hadaway (finance committee).

Previous minutes: May 6, 2023 minutes were not available to approve.

Committee reports submitted by email. Committee reports are sent in response to board moderator email. The committees will send them to the Wyeast Board gmail. They are incorporated into the agenda.

• Worship committee: new members will be needed as members are leaving Portland, joining the board, and having twins
• Treasurer report: currently income exceeds expenses.

New Business:

• We have Linda McPherson as UUA delegate.The meeting is online. Another delegate is needed.
  • Task: Ruth will work with Gigi to send a note to the congregation asking for a second Wyeast member to attend.
• Picnic for July 2. Creston Park, area D, SE 43rd and SE Powell. 10:30-1:00. Lunch at 11:30.
• Keys to Wyeast office at Rose City Park Presbyterian on Sandy Blvd. Lana, Ron Thurston, and Craig Moro had keys. A new key has been given to Rev. Becknell Marx.
• Credit Union Check Signing: New board members will get set up with credit union to sign checks by Barbara Dow. Former members will be notified that they will be removed from the account.
• Zoom Logins: Lana will write board moderator information/instructions, with passwords.
  • Gigi has Zoom long-in information and passwords.
• Google drive access for board members. Instructions are forthcoming. A 2023-24 folder will be created. Editor vs Read status will be assigned per active vs past board members by Lana. Note: use of Google docs requires using Google Workspace for best results.
  • Task: instruction is needed on who gives permissions to the Google Board Business Docs account.
• Email for board members: Lana will add new board members to the Wyeast Board Google group and remove previous members. The Google group board email address is: wyeast-board@googlegroups.com
• Hybrid vs in-person service discussion: continuation of hybrid or in-person only services.
• Retreat/Board get-to-know-each-other gathering vs actual board meeting. UUA has board retreats to participate in with their lead, etc.

Annual Meeting Ballot counting: in progress.
